Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of watching the 7-9 year-old division games is the maturity that the players develop over the course of a couple of seasons. For example, when I first started watching BILLS Wide Receiver John Kozar a couple of years ago, he had a lot of energy but lacked the fundamentals needed to assert himself as a star in the Lower Division. Now this young man is playing at a much higher level. His command of Coach Travis Muti’s offensive and defensive concepts set him apart from the rest of the kids that he competes against.

Kozar turned in an impressive performance, scoring two touchdowns and catching an interception. After the game when I asked the BILLS player what the inspiration was for his big game, he replied, “I was doing it for my dog Madison.”

He continued, “She died a couple of months ago so I just wanted to win a game for her.”

On the COWBOYS’ sideline, a young man by the name of Quadray Greenleaf showed off to keep his team in the game. Greenleaf scored the first touchdown of the game on a beautiful running play that compelled several parents to capture the highlight on their phones. He also made some nice tackles to force third and long for the BILLS’ quarterback.

Unfortunately, Greenleaf made a costly error when he illegally rushed the BILLS’ QB on third down with less than a minute remaining. The penalty resulted in an automatic first down. Consequently, the BILLS were able to run the clock out to secure the win.

COWBOYS Wide Receiver Michael Allen complimented Greenleaf’s big game with a TD reception of his own.

At 2-0 the BILLS sit atop the Lower Division. Unfortunately, the COWBOYS are still looking for their first win. If you missed this game then you certainly won’t want to miss the rematch in a couple of weeks.
