Interview with the WRECKING CREW QB - Jeff Bollinger

Last season WRECKING CREW knocked on the door of a title when they advanced to the championship game for the first time in team history. Unfortunately, WRECKING CREW ran out of gas against PRIMETIME in a 38-14 loss. Although he did not make many receptions for the winners, former PRIMETIME All-Star Bruce Thornton did snag an interception off of CREW Quarterback Jeff Bollinger. Quiet as kept, I thought that Jeff’s underdogs had reached the pinnacle of their talents by even reaching the big dance.

Apparently I was mistaken.

In an epic defensive struggle, WRECKING CREW defeated the three-time champs VAPOR 13-7 in the FALL 2014 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! The win marked the CREW’s first PFFL title.

Bollinger had a solid day throwing the football for the CREW. He completed 8 of 15 passes for two touchdowns. On the downside, the All-Star QB also threw two picks (both caught by VAPOR Defensive Back Trey Allen) and was sacked once.

In the past when Bollinger has turned the ball over multiple times, WRECKING CREW has lost. How did the CREW manage to win despite the INTS?

“My defense is the best down here,” the signal-caller said. “No one can compete with them.”

Unsurprisingly All-Star DB Chris Booth is the brain behind the CREW’s defensive schemes. His pre-snap judgments allow his fellow DBs and former STALLIONS Chris Cramer and Brandon Morgan to jump routes and make plays. While the defense did not record an INT, the DBs minimized the number of big plays in VAPOR’s passing game.

At the fulcrum of WRECKING CREW’s stellar defense is All-Star Rusher Gary Jones. His ability to grab sacks and pressure opposing QBs into bad throws has the PFFL calling him “J.J. Watt.” Similar to his teammates, Jones did not register a sack; however his long arms seemed to bother All-Star QB Cornell Mack all game.

Offensively, Bollinger and the CREW did just enough not to blow their lead. On the game-winning score, the veteran passer threw a jump ball to ex-PRIMETIME and All-Star Bruce Thornton who was being covered by Allen. After some pushing and shoving by both players, Thornton caught Bollinger’s pass at its apex in the back of the end zone right in Allen’s face. Needless to say Allen got MOSSED by great wideout.

Morgan also made a nice play when he took a shuffle pass from Bollinger to the house for WRECKING CREW’s first TD.

Overall, the CREW proved that a Bollinger-led team can win big in the PFFL as long as he is playing with a top-notch defense.

CONGRATULATIONS WRECKING CREW!!!
