Rookie Team Can’t Wake Up from BLACK KNIGHTMARE

BLACK KNIGHTS beat the brakes off of the rookie SHIFT TEAM

Last season I beat up the BLACK KNIGHTS pretty badly in the stories I wrote about their games. While I was disappointed in their poor play, their constant bickering with each other on the sideline was really alarming. They were immature and disorganized. At the time I thought that I would never see an improved version of last season’s losing squad.

Fast forward to the FALL 2014 season: In their first game of the regular season, the new and improved BLACK KNIGHTS beat the brakes off of the rookie SHIFT TEAM to the tune of a 26-8 win.

Quarterback Zack Bahr turned one of his finest performances since his arrival to the PFFL. The playmaker completed 14 of his 17 throws for four touchdowns and no interceptions. His poise in the pocket, albeit against a rookie team, was impressive to watch given his tendency to commit turnovers in big moments.

Primarily, Bahr was uncannily accurate because of his throws to his new deep threat. Wide Receiver Mitch Sherba made several highlight catches to put the KNIGHTS in prime scoring position twice. Fans should be on the lookout for the way that Bahr and Sherba develop their chemistry this season.

In the offseason, the KNIGHTS cut ties with three of their longtime veterans: Skylar Jaquay, Guy Vines, and All-Star Shawn McCallum. Somehow, with these players missing, there was virtually no arguing on the KNIGHTS’ sideline.

The SHIFT TEAM showed their experience repeatedly throughout the game. On one drive in particular, QB Chris Spahr’s rushing TDs called back on consecutive plays due to his flags falling off at the line of scrimmage. While the league’s flags might be a tad old, there’s no excuse for losing points due to the quarterback’s flags not being securely fastened.

Apparently it’s a new day for the new KNIGHTS.
