One of the league’s youngest teams (age-wise and league-wise), the EAGLES, pushed the veteran WRECKING CREW to the brink of an upset in a game that the CREW ended up winning 14-6. Except for All-Star quarterback Dennis “Shor D” Wolford and wide receivers Anthony Garrett and Mark Hernandez, the rest of the players on the roster are teenagers.

The CREW was inept on offense for pretty much the whole game. At the forefront of their scoring woes was their All-Star QB Jeff Bollinger. In total, the signal-caller underachieved by completing just 50 percent of his passes for two touchdowns and three interceptions. 

Speaking of those turnovers, up and coming defensive back Jacquay Walker pulled off the hat trick by catching all three picks from Bollinger. On one play in particular, Walker reached behind his back and hauled in a second half interception that killed a crucial drive by the WRECKING CREW.

While Walker was wrecking the CREW with his ball-hawking ability, All-Star Rusher Gary Jones single-handedly disrupted Shor D’s passing attack. For the game, the single-season sacks record-holder collected nine tackles and eight sacks. As a result, Shor D completed just five of his nine pass attempts for one touchdown.

Late in the game, the EAGLES had the ball after the WRECKING CREW extended their lead to 14-6. Shor D successfully drove his team down field with a combination of effective clock management and his receivers’ emphasis on getting out of bounds after making a reception. On the game’s final play, Shor D completed a strike to Ty Washington in the back of the end zone. Unfortunately for the BIRDS, Washington’s touchdown was nullified because he had stepped out of the back of the end zone before making the grab.

Overall, the WRECKING CREW played sloppily on offense while the teenage EAGLES nearly beat them in dramatic fashion.
