Evan Dewitt - QB RAIDERS

After years of postseason struggles RAIDERS Quarterback Evan “Tom Brady” Dewitt finally captured his first Youth League championship in a decisive 31-13 victory over the BILLS. The win crowned the RAIDERS as the first champions of the newly-created 13-15-year-old division.

Immediately after the PFFL commissioner awarded the RAIDERS their trophies, I caught up with the teenage signal-caller to get his reactions to winning the title. “I’ve been doing this for years and I finally
get a championship,” he said.

Dewitt got the party started early with an impressive touchdown strike to teammate Christopher Dotson Jr. Later on in the first half, the QB orchestrated a clock-eating drive that culminated in a short TD completion to Riley Deringor.

On a day when everything seemed to work in the RAIDERS’ favor, Dashawn “Dae Dae” Schaeffer joined Dewitt in the passing game with much success. In particular, the part-time quarterback threw two TDs to talented wide receiver Damon “DJax” Smith. While Dae Dae made two highlight plays in the passing game, Dewitt squelched my attempt at stirring up a quarterback controversy.

“He got a handoff and he threw it twice…he wasn’t playing quarterback,” Tom Brady said.

In addition to the strong performances on offense, the RAIDERS received a big game on defense from Dotson, their rusher. The young man pressured BILLS Quarterback Jake “Kozak” Kozarian into having an erratic passing day. Overall, Dotson recorded three sacks.

Despite two second half picks caught by Kozak and two BILLS’ touchdowns, the 19-0 deficit at halftime proved to be insurmountable in the end.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from Dewitt’s triumph is that the young man is only 13. In other words he has about five more seasons to compete for championships.

This could get interesting.

CONGRATULATIONS RAIDERS!!!
