In the face of one of the most competitive teams ever assembled, PRIMETIME triumphed over CHAOS

Interview with PRIMETIME (post-game)

PRIMETIME QB - Jason Scott

In the face of one of the most competitive teams ever assembled, PRIMETIME triumphed over CHAOS in a hard-fought 13-12 championship victory. Newly crowned OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR and All-Star Jason Scott led the charge with a 91.1 passer rating and two touchdown passes. Also, IRONMAN OF THE YEAR Kenny Ashmore led all receivers with 10 catches and two TDs.

Prior to the Spring 2014 season PRIMETIME’s seasons have always adhered to the cliché of being “close but no cigar.” No matter how well they played during the regular season and playoffs, one of the league’s most stacked teams was never able to win a championship…until now.

CHAOS WR - Sean Kennedy

Similarly to previous title games between REIGN and VAPOR, this contest was a defensive struggle from start to finish. Both quarterbacks, Scott and All-Star Lance Brunsell threw an interception.

On the game’s first score, Ashmore overcame physical coverage by CHAOS Defensive Back Dustin Dean to give PRIMETIME an early advantage. On the very next possession, seven-time PFFL Champion Sean Kennedy sprinted down the left sideline to the end zone after Brunsell hit him in stride.

In the second half with the score 7-6 in favor of PRIMETIME, Kennedy sacrificed his body to haul in another touchdown from Brunsell. From a distance Kennedy appeared to be playing with a chip on his shoulder for some reason. Whatever was bothering him was sufficient enough to motivate him into recording several highlights in the biggest game of the year.

PRIMETIME WR - Kenny Ashmore

At times I was ready to give up on PRIMETIME”s chances of winning because Kennedy and his teammates seemed to be playing with supreme confidence against a team that went undefeated during the regular season.

Fortunately for the winning team, Scott responded to CHAOS’s last TD with one of his own to none other than Mr. Ashmore. The score put PRIMETIME ahead 13-12.

PRIMETIME WR - Tahir Jackson

On the game’s final possession CHAOS had the ball with under a minute remaining on the clock. After a few plays, Kennedy was whistled for starting a play without one of his flags secured to his belt. Immediately after the penalty, PRIMETIME started celebrating because they believed that the game was over since the penalty was called on fourth down. Unsurprisingly, Kennedy began “working” the refs to convince them to give CHAOS one more down in regulation.

After much deliberation, the referees ruled that the game was over due to the penalty turning the ball over on downs to PRIMETIME and the fact that CHAOS could not stop the clock because they used all of their timeouts.

Although the ending was controversial and at times confrontational, the “cooler heads’ of the PFFL prevailed and oversaw PRIMETIME achieving its first championship in this league. Unquestionably, this game will bring about major changes in the way that championship games are officiated.

CONGRATULATIONS PRIMETIME!
