All-Star Quarterback Tony Battaglini completed 10 out of 15 passes for two TDs and zero interceptions.

After DEFIANT had narrowed the deficit to one point, MMG held on to win 19-18. Inside of the one-minute warning, Quarterback PJ McGuigan was leading his team down the field as DEFIANT trailed MMG 19-12. With two seconds left on the clock, McGuigan completed a pass to Wide Receiver EJ Taylor that pulled DEFIANT within one point of tying MMG. Instead of going for the tie, DEFIANT opted to win the game by trying a two-point conversion. Unfortunately, the comeback attempt was foiled when an MMG defender deflected McGuigan’s throw.

All-Star Quarterback Tony Battaglini completed 10 out of 15 passes for two TDs and zero interceptions. His efficient passing numbers were supported by a receiving corps that is playing much better than it was last season. Jon Pryor was the game’s leading wideout with six receptions and one touchdown.

Defensively Brandon Livsey set the tone for MMG’s strong showing against DEFIANT’s veteran offense. Throughout the first half Livsey and the rest of the defense were very close to picking off McGuigan several times. Finally, in the second half, Livsey jumped a route, intercepted McGuigan and advanced to the end zone untouched.

While McGuigan did throw for three TDs, he finished the game with a depressing 61.7 passer rating. All-Star Wide Receiver Branden Ballard led DEFIANT’s receivers with four catches and two touchdowns. Ultimately, DEFIANT’s inability to convert any of their extra point attempts proved to be the difference in the game.
