Dev's Corner with Kory Vorum

PRIMETIME accomplished a feat that no other team has been able to accomplish since BALLZ DEEP jumped on the Pittsburgh Flag Football League (PFFL) scene three years ago:

He made Jeremy Greenawalt shut up.

Over the weekend BALLZ DEEP’s Jeremy Greenawalt and PRIMETIME’s Kory Vorum engaged in a war of words over Facebook that resulted in a game filled with tension when both squads took the field on Sunday. Although, Greenawalt succeeded in winning the battle online, Vorum won the war as his team embarrassed BALLZ DEEP 40-14.

“At the end of the day we were just laughing about the whole situation,” Vorum said about the trash talk coming from Greenawalt.

Individually Vorum did not have the greatest statistical game of his career due to a pesky shoulder injury; however, his teammates had his back the whole game. In particular, All-Star Defensive Back Bruce Thornton picked off Steve Chockla three times to keep BALLZ DEEP’s talented offense in check.

All-Star Quarterback Jason Scott put on a masterful performance against BALLZ DEEP. Specifically, the 11th best player in PFFL history completed 80 percent of his passes for five touchdowns. Ironically, his teammate and two-time IRONMAN OF THE YEAR Kenny Ashmore, who was snubbed for the top 50 list, caught all five TDs.

“We’ve been at the top of the leader boards in every category…and I feel like there definitely should’ve been more of us on there,” Vorum said about Ashmore and the rest of his teammates that did not make the list.

While Greenawalt did contribute four receptions, one touchdown, and four tackles for BALLZ DEEP, the loquacious receiver was ultimately humbled by a superior team. Moreover, Greenawalt probably felt even worse after he spent the whole weekend ridiculing Vorum, only to watch his team suffer its worst loss of the season courtesy of PRIMETIME.

“There’s too many athletes on our team and we knew that they could not run with us,” Vorum said. “Steve’s the best player on their team. He’s the only person that gives them a shot to win and we knew that without a doubt.”

Vorum added, “I mean you see the score; that’s what’s going to happen every time we play them.”
