The game got off to a late start, as players learned that it is impossible to play flag football without flags. Once the flags were delivered, the grey team faced off against the black team.

On the first drive of the game , Jordan Fowler spins past two black team defenders for a crazy score to put the grey team up 7-o early on.

The black team tries to answer but Offensive Player of the Year Chris Sullivan’s pass is intercepted by Branden Ballard who makes an impressive leaping snag. Sullivan had an uncharacteristically high interception rate, the second caught by Chris Booth off a tip just outside the black team’s end zone. Defensive player of the year Gary Jones, playing for the black team during All Star week, got a second sack giving Sullivan the ball back. The Sullivan we all know finally came out and he threw a few completions to Simon Bekavac and then a touchdown pass to STEELTOWN teammate Pete Manetas.

Ballard in grey managed to snag a third interception for his defense and then Fowler made a clean touchdown pass to put the grey team up 20-6. Sullivan found Manteas in the end zone again who closed the gap a bit with a one handed catch. Bekavak then made an impressive baseball slide in the end zone to put the black team just 2 points down. Going for 2, Sullivan’s pass is intercepted and returned for a touchdown by Chris Booth to end the game 22-18.

The grey team advanced to play in the Steel vs Iron All Star game.
