“nothing’s a fluke with me.”

Cory “Chop City” Bevan might be the most loquacious player in the PFFL Youth League. When asked if the LIONS’ 25-0 championship win against the STEELERS was a one-trick pony performance, Bevan replied “nothing’s a fluke with me.”

Prior to this season Josh “Super Cleats” DiMatteo was the primary player that gave opposing coaches nightmares. Now his good friend Bevan has taken on that role, especially in his remarkable title game performance. Specifically, Chop City scored three touchdowns to power the LION’s offensive onslaught against the STEELERS.

All season Coach Dennis “Shor D” Wolford has done a masterful job of orchestrating the LIONS’ offensive and defensive schemes. However, Bevan gave a lot of credit to his teammates for performing at a high level on the league’s biggest stage.

“He [Coach Shor D] doesn’t say much [in the huddle] because we all know what to do,” he said.

Super Cleats is now a two-time champion after this win. In the Fall 2011 season, DiMatteo led the CARDINALS to a title. Despite missing a couple of regular season games, DiMatteo returned for the playoffs to score the final TD for the LIONS.

While the STEELERS were overmatched against the mighty LIONS, each player put his all into the title game. For example, Dashawn “All Day Day” Schaeffer caught an impressive interception against LIONS’ star Marquice Scott-Ford. Also Jeremiah Mitchell picked off a LIONS’ player to give the STEELERS another highlight.

Defending a title is a tall order at the minimum. The LIONS should expect to get every team’s best effort because everybody wants to beat the champs. With the deck stacked against them, will the LIONS win another championship?

“Yup, you know it,” Super Cleats said.
