On a nasty, rainy day the JETS offense came to life in the second half to win 26-13 over the CARDINALS. Most PFFL fans have braved severe weather conditions to cheer on their family friends. However, if you were out there during this game, then you probably regretted watching football games outside.

Although the parents probably didn’t enjoy the weather much, the kids seemed to thrive in the torrential downpour. JETS Quarterback Jonathan Wellen was impressive with his playmaking ability. In particular, the young man eluded a rusher, turned the corner and successfully scrambled in the end zone to give the JETS a 6-0 lead.

In addition to Wellen’s contributions, Jo Jo Butler from Greenfield Elementary School proved to be a legitimate deep threat for the JETS high octane offense. On the biggest play of the game, Wellen dropped back and connected with Butler on a long pass that set the JETS up for their second touchdown.

While the CARDINALS’ defense struggled in the second half, the team put together some offensive highlights. Specifically, Joshua DiMatteo A.K.A. “Super Cleats” scored on a double handoff play that successfully fooled the JETS’ coverage. DiMatteo scored two touchdowns for the CARDINALS.

Also brothers Kyrin Wyatt and Kyneil Wyatt have proven to be a reliable receiving tandem for the CARDINALS.

Despite the loss, Super Cleats touted the coaching style of Jason Russell. “He just tells us to talk and help each other out, both sides offense and defense,” DiMatteo said.
