Playing the right team at the right time can be great for a team, and the SILVERBACKS found that out Sunday.

Dropping to 0-5 after losing the day’s first game, the SILVERBACKS earned their first victory of the spring, 19-6, over GARAGE DOOR SALOON, another winless team.

“It’s good to get the first victory,” said SILVERBACK receiver Chris Kozak, who caught four passes for two touchdowns in the win. “We’ve had a couple of key additions, added some free agents, and it’s working out

The SILVERBACKS added two new players in Rob Connors and Rege Flowers. Connors used his speed and athleticism to spread the defense and open the field for Flowers, the quarterback, who completed 11 of 19 passes for three touchdowns.

“Hopefully, he’ll give us a good quarterback,” Kozak said. “He brings good knowledge of the game.”

GARAGE DOOR SALOON tied the game at 6-6 on the second half’s first drive with Chris Moore’s catch just inside the pylon on a flag pattern. Then, Kozak went to work.

On the ensuing drive, Flowers threw a rocket between two defenders into Kozak’s chest to get a seven-point lead.

Then, the two hooked up again on a comeback route just short of the end zone on the left sideline. Kozak worked back across the field, juking every defender in his path, even forcing one to fall before running to the right sideline for the game’s final score.
