Several all-time records are up for grabs. Most notably BALLZ DEEP QB Steve Chockla (102 TDs) is only fifteen TDs behind Smith

One of the luxuries of playing in the PFFL is the stat-keeping. Even though it’s just flag football, players gain extra motivation to compete by reviewing their statistical performances on a weekly basis. Furthermore, every competitor brings their A-game because breaking records will transform them into legends as members of the…PFFL Hall of Fame! Please note that while there currently isn’t a PFFL Hall of Fame, league officials are actively discussing all possibilities regarding player recognition.

In the Fall 2010 season, several single-season records were broken. First, HORSEMEN Quarterback Dennis "Shorty" Wolford broke the rushing attempt record previously held by BULLDOGS’ Quarterback Eugene Smith. Shorty’s 30 attempts eclipsed Smith’s 26 in the Summer 2010 season.

As for receiving records, Wide Receiver/Center Eric Hantz of BALLZ DEEP caught 62 passes to jump ahead of Jason Bialek’s 61 receptions with D’S DOGS. While league officials have applauded Hantz for reaching a new statistical height in his PFFL career, several players including BULLDOGS’ star receiver Zack Gorny have openly criticicized the validity of the record given that Hantz’ position at center gives him an advantage over down-the-field receivers like Gorny.

In addition to rushing and receiving records being broken, a couple of dubious passing records were also broken. First, the ILLUMINATI’s Jon Plessett threw 18 interceptions last season, passing Greg Kreigel’s 16. Also, mercurial WRECKING CREW captain Jeff Bollinger was sacked a record 14 times last fall.

It should be noted that while Smith still holds the record for passing TDs in a single season (42), STEELTOWN QB Chris Sullivan threw for 41 touchdowns last season…in just 10 games! Smith accomplished his feat in 2009 when the regular season was 12 games long.

On the defensive side, all three records were broken last fall. First, Tim Orsini of the STALLIONS registered 42 tackles, followed by DEFIANT’s Anthony Miller (40) and STEEL TOWN’s Fall 2010 Defensive Player of the Year Ed Tozzi (38). Also, DEFIANT’s Ryan Lancia accumulated 17 sacks to pass Gary “Goose” Fisher’s 16 during the Summer 2010 season. Lastly, Tozzi cemented himself as the PFFL’s best defender by grabbing 16 interceptions to put him ahead of teammate Chris Conrad (12).

As for this season, several all-time records are up for grabs. Most notably BALLZ DEEP QB Steve Chockla (102 TDs) is only fifteen TDs behind Smith. Chockla is also the runner up to Smith in all-time attempts and completions while playing only three seasons to Smith’s four. TEAM UPDAWG QB Steve Menowsky and Smith each have eight rushing TDs second to Shorty’s 10 career scores. Next, Gorny’s receiving touchdown record of 49 is in danger of being broken by PRO BOWLER Receiver Mark Kobistek’s who has 46 career TD receptions. Lastly, Goose will be looking for revenge when he attacks Lancia’s 28 career sacks. Goose is in second with 26.
