After struggling through their first few games of the season, CONQUEST finally played a complete game, beating the SAVAGES 18-12.

CONQUEST QB and Youth League Coach Lamar McCoy turned in an effective passing performance against the SAVAGES. On the day the signal-caller completed 10  of 11 throws for three touchdowns and just one interception. McCoy’s command of his team’s offense and overall grasp of the PFFL rule book.

McCoy’s strong game was assisted greatly by the playmaking ability of his underrated receiving corps. Primarily, Jordon McMichael did most of the heavy lifting for CONQUEST on offense. The wideout led all receivers with seven catches and three touchdowns.

In addition to McMichael’s contributions, James Zerfoss put his stamp on the game. The starting center caught three passes including one for a first down on CONQUEST’s first scoring drive.

Defensively CONQUEST showed growth in their play-calling. On a pivotal second half drive that would have resulted in a go-ahead score for the SAVAGES, CONQUEST’s DBs stepped up. Cornerback Deykwane Cooper jumped a pass intended for Bryce Leach and picked off Cameron Dixon as the SAVAGES were building momentum.

Unfortunately, the SAVAGES were undermanned and overmatched in this contest for several reasons. First, many of their players either decided not to show up or ended up arriving late to games. As a result the team was never able to get into a rhythm on offense and defense. Dixon AKA “Brolic” and Bryce Leach are good athletes but they cannot carry the SAVAGES by themselves. Hopefully the two free agents that were added to their roster will help the SAVAGES win some games.
