No matter how hard the RAVENS tried to snatch victory from the STEELERS, the latter team did too little too late. In a defensive battle from start to finish, the STEELERS defeated the RAVENS 12-7.

On the first scoring possession of the game, STEELERS’ Coach Troy DeClair set the tone offensively by putting the ball in the hands of his top playmaker, Grant “Head and Shoulders” Ganot. Ganot took a handoff from Milo Berger and proceeded to zig and zag his way to the end zone.

At halftime the score was 6-0 STEELERS and the sky was dark. If the RAVENS were ever going to get back into the game then they would need to figure out a way to generate some offense in the second half.

The second half started to look eerily similar to first half. The RAVENS could not put any points on the board and Ganot was making plays with his legs and his arm. After scoring his second rushing touchdown of the game, the STEELERS took a commanding 12-0 lead. Even more frustrating for the RAVENS was that veteran Rusher Nikyla Wolford was collecting sacks at a high clip.

Fortunately, the RAVENS responded with a defensive flurry of their own. Rookie Rusher Anthony Orlando, son of legendary PFFL Rusher Steve Orlando, put the team on his back by notching back-to-back sacks on Berger.

Apparently Orlando’s defensive stops galvanized the RAVENS’ offensive confidence. On their next possession, Quarterback Caleb Greenwald hit Zymere in stride for a beautiful TD.

In the final moments of the game with the STEELERS leading 12-7, the RAVENS had the ball. Greenwald threw a strike to Orlando who had nothing but daylight in front of him. Instead of completing the improbable comeback, the RAVENS ran out of time after the STEELERS surrounded Orlando and secured the tackle.

Both teams definitely gave the fans their money’s worth.
