League Statement to all Adult Players

In a time where we should be showing praise and sportsmanship to the award winners and league champions of the spring 2015 season, I instead have to reiterate the importance of respecting one another and the facilities we use. This statement will be two fold in the sense that it will draw attention to the selfish and disrespectful acts of two players towards league staff and hopefully send a very clear message that we do not employ or contract a field cleaning crew.

With regards to the events that took place in this past Sunday’s playoff game, certain members of a team lost site of the mutual respect that we as a league have worked so hard to achieve. A Player Conduct Policy has been in place to serve as a guide in the circumstance that an unfortunate situation arises and not as boundaries that should be pushed to the limit. As a result, the two players that were involved will no longer be welcome to participate in any PFFL season, event or tournament.

Throughout the course of a Sunday, I will make multiple announcements about leaving flag belts on the fields, smoking outside and picking up trash. At times it appears that the message is clear and players adhere to it, but for the last 4 weeks trash has remained not only on the field, but scattered across the track. What is alarmingly concerning about this is that we are all adults and responsible for ourselves, yet I find myself on a consistent basis picking up after others. I am stressing the fact that it’s me picking up trash because I would not even request that a paid staff member do this task. Please use the provided trash cans and throw your trash away.

Lastly, I think it is important that adult league players realize that the foundation of this league started with the idea of providing adult males with a community and platform to compete, have fun and be recognized. When deficiencies like player conduct and the inability to pick up trash exist, it makes it tremendously difficult to grow in both diversity of players and league events. Whether you’re a player that has been around since our inception 6 years ago or this is your first season, please make an effort to share this information with your teammates.

Regards

Chris
